"God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday-2023
St. John's hosted a community spaghetti dinner on September 10th. We served around 145 people and raised $1001 for the Platte and Colfax Counties Food Pantries. We hope to make this a yearly event.
"God's Work. Our Hands." 2022
This was an opportunity for our congregation to come together in service to our neighbors in our larger community of Columbus, and to be in fellowship (party) with one another.
We had a coffee and cookie fellowship following the service on September 11th, then in the evening we served a meal at the Columbus Rescue Mission. We served about 20 folks and left them lots of leftovers to use during the week.
Platte County Food Pantry
We have food drives throughout the year to benefit the Columbus Food Pantry. You can donate anytime by dropping off your goods either at the church, or you can go directly to the Food Pantry in Columbus located at 3020-18th Street #13-they are open different hours each day, so check for hours of operation.
Quilting
The Women of the ELCA work on tie-quilts throughout the year for Lutheran World Relief. They have made hundreds of quilts over the years. They also make adult and children's quilts that are sent locally to the Center for Survivors and Youth & Families for Christ in Columbus.
Angel Tree
Our church also participates yearly at Christmas with the Prison Ministry to provide gifts for children whose parents are encarcerated.
Medicine Bottle Collection
Social Ministry is collecting medicine bottles for Matthew 25. Bottles must be clean, lids on, and outside stickers removed. Please put similar sized bottles in ziplock bags and put in the box in the narthex.
